Native annual. At a first glance, the linear leaf shape of this plant might resemble sheeps head sorrel without the “ears”. Similarly to sheeps head sorrel, the leaves are edible (and also contain oxalic acid, so should be consumed in relative moderation) – as are the flowers and seeds. The cute magenta flowers only open under direct sunlight, and can be easily missed other times of day. Grows to be about 3” tall and up to 1’ wide.
