Resource
Center: The Mattole Watershed Resource Center offers landowners
and residents up-to-date information on land management, sustainable
forestry and grazing, and restoration techniques, as well as a
library of maps, aerial photographs, and information on specific
tributaries. Office hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 10am-3pm
or by appointment. For more information, please email us at resourcecenter@mattole.org
Geographic
Information System (GIS): Through our GIS program, MRC
offers customized maps of any location within the Mattole watershed.
We can include roads, vegetation, aerial photographs, old-growth
forests, creeks and much more. Maps are made to order in 2-3 weeks,
and can be produced for as little as $20-$30. For more information,
please email us at gis@mattole.org
Reforestation: MRC offers
native Douglas-fir planting on previously forested private lands,
from 1,000 to 30,000 trees, at no cost to the landowner. In addition,
we can offer advice on appropriate species and planting techniques.
Forest
Practices Review: The Forest Practice Review Program analyzes
each Timber Harvest Plan filed in the Mattole watershed, and provides
this information to residents. MRC also encourages California
residents to write a letter urging the protection of old-growth
forests in the Mattole watershed. For more information, please
email us at forestprac@mattole.org
Good
Roads, Clear Creeks: The Good Roads, Clear Creeks program
helps landowners identify and fix erosion problems, especially
those related to roads. For more information, please email us
at goodroads@mattole.org
Mattole
Ecological Education Program (MEEP): MEEP provides ecological
education and teacher assistance in all Mattole watershed public
schools. We also have educational materials available for home
schooled students within the Mattole watershed. For more information,
