Nick's Interns 2008 Summer Work Program
OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH
We are excited to announce our 2008 season of Nick’s
Interns. This unique program provides work opportunities for high school students,
freshmen to graduates. We are looking for individuals who are motivated to learn,
work hard, be part of a team, and make a valuable contribution to our natural
environment. Interns
work on a range of restoration projects such as, stream repair, invasive species
removal, trail building, sediment and fuel hazard reduction, salmon habitat enhancement
and more. With the cooperation of several environmental agencies, participants
will learn about and experience a variety of restoration forestry practices. Upper Mattole jobs will be 4 days
a week (32 hours) Session
One ~ 4 weeks ~ June 23rd to July 17th (4 positions) Session
Two ~ 3 weeks ~ July 21st to Aug. 8th (4 positions) MRC Petrolia
session ~ 3 weeks ~ July ~ undetermined Interns starting wage ~ $ 9.50/hour; Returning interns
~ $10.50/hour Nick's Interns work together with the Mattole Restoration
Council, Sanctuary Forest, The Institute of Sustainable Forestry,
State Parks, Bureau of Land Management and the Mattole Salmon Group. Applications
are due by March 28th, 2008
