Steve is also the Director of the Mattole Camp and Retreat Center, and brings a strong understanding Since the last issue of the Mattole Restoration Newsletter, we have bid farewell to Dazzle Ekblad, Forest of our natural world, and curiosity about forestry issues.
Jen Glorioso of Ettersburg has been hired to coordinate the Good Roads, Clear Creeks Program, our program to offer landowners free road improvements to reduce sediment problems caused by roads and culvert problems. Jen previously worked at California State Parks, and brings a great attitude to working with watershed landowners to offer this service.
Lastly, I want to welcome Reid Bryson, who is an Americorp member who will be working at the Mattole Restoration Council and the Mattole Salmon Group during the next year. For the next year, he will be serving with both groups to get a first-hand look at community-based watershed restoration. Reid graduated in May from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama with a degree in Environmental Science and GIS. He has been in Petrolia since mid-October and can’t wait for the rain to bring back the salmon. He also looks forward to finding a good local outlet for playing guitar or bass.
We would like to thank Amy Bruce, MRC’s outgoing President, for her years of service to the MRC. Congratulations also to her and former MRC Reforestation Coordinator Randy Stemler on their first born, Chloe Cascade Stemler (?), born XX. Thanks also to Chuck Gould, MRC’s outgoing Treasurer, and Ian Sigman for their contributions to the MRC Board of Directors. We welcome Judy Nash, Gabrielle Roach and Stephen Umbertis to the MRC Board of Directors for a two-year term. Lois Juodeika and Jim Danisch were also re-elected to two-year terms.
