Riparian Zone Hillslope and Bank Stabilization

Posted 11/20/2008
Many years of work across the watershed have shown that a significant source of sediment is erosion of unstable banks and nearby hill slopes. This sediment clogs clean spawning gravels that are essential to egg survival and juvenile habitat.

To reduce the amount of sediment entering the waterway, the Council secures stream-banks with structures made of native vegetation, such as woven willow walls.
