Mattole
Salmon Group
The Mattole Salmon Group was formed in 1980 by local citizens
who were concerned with declining salmon populations in the
Mattole River. They were the first watershed-wide, entirely
citizen-run effort in the Pacific Northwest to begin restoring
native salmon runs. Programs include Habitat Restoration,
Monitoring and Research, and a Native Hatchbox Rescue Rearing
Program.
